>Many have taken jobs in areas they used to oversee in government.
That should be illegal and seen as corruption.
Also, why do we keep giving pay rises if they are not restricted from other work?
‘Of the 247 MPs, 148 (or 59%) who listed any outside earnings last year were Tories, rising to 73% for those earning more than £2,000. Twenty-two of the 25 with the highest registered earnings were Conservatives.’
So don’t expect anything to be done about this until the Tories are booted out.
The fact its such a tory-based issue (114 of the 148 mps with second jobs are tories) means Labour could stand to gain so much from taking a strong public stand against this
(Nb im aware other articles offer differing figs about number of mps with secondary jobs but the tory dominance is consistent)
John Redwood hardly does anything at all when it comes to his actual job as MP. He hardly ever goes to parliament hardly ever actually represents people and he moonlights as an advisor to a big energy company or something… effectively pulling two paychecks.
All the while he lives in an actual mansion in a gated area where he hosts big parties all the time whilst his people suffer.
Yet idiots here still vote for him. Hopefully that changes this time.
I’m sick of this. Struggling to feed myself and these greedy politicians are living in the lap of luxury.
How about, let them have their second jobs but no expenses, none at all, they get a wage and just muddle through like everyone else.
There’s a surprise … with this government anything is possible … respect what’s that
I’m a celeb jungle could have an MP for be next 10 seasons
How difficult is it to have a government where integrity & respect are the focus? But look at the state of the UK
Now a joke on the world stage
If you’re being paid more by your second job than your MP’s salary, then being an MP is your actual second job.
