  1. >One of the reservations people have about release of wildcats is that there are so many domestic cats out in the landscape now that there are concerns about hybridisation. “They tend to avoid domestic cats, but we will be spending the 18 months looking for feral cat populations,” Burgess said.

I don’t really see they’re going to make this work, they’re just going to interbreed with domestic/feral cats and you’ll just end up with hybrid feral cats. How do you make a domestic cat not look sexy to a wildcat and vice versa?

  2. ok, I can see them moving into cities to eat rubbish we leave lying around, like foxes did. Maybe they’ll then become hated and persecuted by the same people who seem to do that to foxes.

  3. Sounds like the local farmers are gonna have to get their head in the game. As long as they remember that they’re all in this together, they should be able to stick to the status quo

  4. 150 years later:

“We need to release the land sharks to reduce the numbers of wild cats in the country to manageable levels”

  5. This is awesome. They seem to pose much less of a danger to farmers than wolves.

    They are cuter too.

  6. Can’t we have wolves instead? Especially trained to eat wannabe gangsters who hang out late at night. That should reduce the crime rate

  7. If you believe local Facebook groups then there’s already loads of wild cats roaming the uk! We had a panther about the other week supposedly
