I’ve visited most of the north this summer, here is my take (details on the comments )

  1. 1. F*ck you, if this base was not there you could just go straight to Pyrgos in like 5 minutes but no, you have to go threw the mountains for 20-40 minutes.
    2. The saddest part of the island. Anything you image of what the occupation looks like is in the Morphou area. Non developed roads, many Turkish bases, destroyed houses, destroyed Churches were their bells are replaces with speakers for the mosques that a build next to it. Nature is cool I guess
    3. Kormakitis. Most based well preserved Maronite village with greek speaking Cypriots.
    4. Kyrenia mountains (Pentadaktilos ) and the sea is some of the most beautiful places you will ever see in Cyprus.4a) Where turkish soldiers first stepped on the island in 1974. One of the boats they’ve used is preserved and used as a monument for the “rescue” mission.4b) Settler Capital. Maybe the most developed place in the north.
    5. Highway 1
    6. Based mixed village.
    7. Wild West. You will see wild donkeys chilling on the road, blocking you way for food. Some people tent couple of kilometers away from Apostolos Andreas.
    8. Long ass golden beach. Many crabs that hide in the sand and shells. Under developed, hope it stays that way, its perfect as it is.
    9. University city. Many malls and young people. Some streets are pretty old and are to figure out who has priority. Old Town of Famagusta is beautiful. Saint Nicholas Cathedral (now turned in to a Mosque) is a must see. There is some development.9a) Highway 2. Salamina is very FFA area, you can touch 1000s of year old shit there. Beautiful beaches. Many wild dogs.
    10. Same vibe as 2)
    11. High way 3. Close to Ercan/Timpou Airport. A very weird and big ass road crossing that reminds me of USA? There are some bones of a dog in the middle of the road, some one peak em up.
    12. Dont cross from there unless you dont mind the guards to check what is in your car.

Ive also visited Apostolos Varnavas. Very pretty, some guys makes fresh juice.

Overall, I personally believe if you are Cypriot its a must visit. Many of us do not have any kind connection or familiarity to this part of our country and we only let our self’s get detached because of the occupation. And if you ask me, Turkey bets on that. It’s easier to let go or don’t really care something you’ve never visited and yet people keep telling it is yours, especially if you are not a refugee.

Even if you “don’t want to support the occupation by giving money to em”, just take your car and do a road trip, don’t use you money, just go there. All the people who are running for presented in 2023 are visiting the all the time. Visit at least the places where you’ll see greek speaking Cypriots in Rizokarpaso or Kormakiti. See the good the bad and the and the ugly. Experience your opinions of the north with you own eyes and ears, not in the comfort and safety of your couch/chair or whatever. Tell people about the occupation by your own experience, not only from what you’ve been told.

My humble opinion, you believe these lands belongs to the Republic of Cyprus and to its rightful owners, go make memories, attachments and friendships with all the Cypriots you can find and the scenery.

  2. it’s a nice piece of land infested with parasitical hosts and demons. they just sit there, not doing anything, as the walls crumble and the metal rusts around them, for the derelict, dilapidation and malaise is part of their psyche. we need to nuke the north from orbit to make sure its 100% clean again.

  3. As a sufferer from EMU, I agree anything outside Famagusta sucks in this asshole country. and maybe Kyrenia is good, but that is it lol.

  4. One day Cyprus will be free from the Turkish invaders and the beauty of places like Famagusta will be ours again to enjoy
