Next time someone asks here „How is it living in Switzerland?“ show them this photo.

  1. Schlieren. Linmattal. Zürcher Agglo.

Bonjour tristesse. There are thousands of places like this. Sad, grey, cold. That’s the reality for the majority of people, not the Swiss places you know from a random Tik Tok video.

    Sorry for the depressing post.

  2. Mixed use, mid-density buildings, modern infrastructure, clean roads, are these trolley bus lines? At any rate it looks like there’s good public transport. Some nice trees. Is it nice for a holiday? Maybe not. Is it an absolute dream for 90% of the planet? Absolutely.

  3. You know, someone out there can easily call this an ideal living condition. Organized, calm, noiseless, not entirely isolated. They also don’t think living in CH should be living in a fairytale world.

  4. Not everything can be waterfall in Wengen surround by mountains.

I see in this picture no skyscraper, no air pollution, modern cars, green areas, plenty of space, no tanks or bomb craters, shopping possibilities even if they are closed on sunday it implies enough supply, public transport possibility.

I guess 95% of population on earth would happily trade places.

  5. As a swiss citizen who left the country years ago, I feel very depressed only by seeing this photo… 😬😰😅 Enjoy your 9 months grey season guys 💪😉

  6. I used to live in the red house at the right side for a few years. It is actually not a bad place. Appartement was completely new and reasonable priced. All shops and some ok restaurants in walking distance. Limmat and the forest is also close by. Train station literally 1 min away. And within 10-12 Minutes you are in Zürich HB – faster than from many places in Zurich itself.

  7. Nice spot, 5 minutes from Limmat. Good steak house just round the corner. Some trees. The chairs are not stolen.

  8. That’s it. Packing my bags and moving my American ass to the land of the greatest pocket knife in the world.

  9. I only see a good spot to have a sit, have a coffee while I get a sun tan … what are we supposed to notice ?

  10. Such a bullshit post. You’re so depressed you can’t even appreciate how lucky you are. Go cry in another country, i’m sure you’ll be back in no time.

  11. Yeah, I often wonder what the fuck the city planners are smoking.

They literally take the text book of how not to do it and do exactly that. Sealed asphalt floors that get miserably hot in the summer. Almost no green.

    Every. Fucking. Redesigned. Space.

  12. The reality is the that most “visitors” only know the A locations. Take them to Klein Basel, they might see things differently.

  13. Hell, compared to most places in America this looks great. It’s clean, there aren’t homeless people bundled up underneath the roofs and awnings, tons of space to safely walk, the buildings’ paint is still clean and not chipped, there’s trees, those chairs aren’t smashed to bits by some asshole kids or crazy homeless person, and that crosswalk is like twice the width of most in America.

Honestly the only places in America that compare are the ones that cost a small fortune to live in, and only the really well-off people can afford.

This looks like a great place to live.

  14. Don’t see the problem. That is a new place with a Tram that wasn’t there 2-3 years ago.

And I know the person who designed that “roof”.

  15. My dude, you’re standing in a large-ish pedestrian space right next to multiple shopping opportunities, doctor’s offices, a couple bars and restaurants, a gym, a tram line directly into the city center (and soon connecting you to the largest shopping mall in Switzerland when you travel into the other direction) and a train station within a 1-2 minute walk. You’re surrounded by relatively affordable housing in an area with a, globally speaking, very low violent crime rate. You even missed the little mist fountain right behind you that provides some welcome cooling during summer.

Within a 15 minute walk, you can either reach a calm river or a quaint little piece of forest, both ideal for a jog or other outdoor activities.

This is, by most metrics, an amazing place to live at.

  16. Looks fine to me

Only problem I have is that the Swiss definitely like to use a *lot* of asphalt… Asphalt imo is just gray and boring especially on public squares. They should try slabs some more.

  17. This is why I love Switzerland, calm and peace. Go to new York, Rome, London if you want caos

  18. Yes. Clean. Well structured. Orderly. Beautiful nature. Not a single person outside on a sunday and absolutely no social interaction outside of a very small and closed circle.

  19. This Place is Empty !!! Because Everybody went to Downtown and Mall!!

    Sunday Special Sale Today!!!!…….
