Mobile data prices in Europe per GigaByte – 2022 [OC]

  1. That’s really interesting, such huge discrepancies, even between immediate neighbors.

Is it not possible to use a data plan from another EU country to avoid high prices, what with the EU-wide roaming rules?

  2. Well this seems like a really bad research.

For Slovenia you pretty much have to take one of most expensive 10GB data plans (which is almost regarded as a scam) to get that price.

  3. 1. Dec 2022 – woah – Marty McFly joined the group ;>
    2. I dont want to research market, but in my oppinion price for poland is way to high. Yeah, there are probably people who pay way to much, but unlimited calls, text messages, and at least 1500 GB per year yoy may have for 30 zł/ month (6,4 euro current exchange).

  4. Checked for Petersburg.50GB from the operator “yota” you need to pay 360 rubles or 5.4 euros, which gives (if I didn’t mess up anything) ~ 0.11 cents per gigabyte.

  5. In Switzerland I pay 20 CHF for unlimited internet in Switzerland and if I go abroad I can pay 3 CHF/day for unlimited internet there.

  6. don’t know how useful this is lets take Denmark as an example:

the most used agreement at my ISP is the 30 GB plan which results in 1 GB of date for 0,67 Euro
But if mobile data was important, you can get a unlimited plan (with a 2 TB data fair use limit)
that will if we use the fair use limit as an example costs you 0,018 Euro per GB

  7. The danish price seems way too high. I pay less than 0.03€ pr GB which I don’t even think is the cheapest you can get. I have 1TB data for 200 DKK.

Or am I missing some math here?

  8. Man, I am angry at Belgium for its backward telecom sector. It is so expensive that it is simply unclear how the country is supposed to be at the forefront of digital technologies.

Get medium-speed cable Internet and mobile Internet for your phone? You will pay around 100 EUR. For those who still watch TV, add another 20-40 EUR. Many operators still want you to get a landline which nobody uses. What the fuck?

And I would understand if everything was unlimited, but you will be greeted with data caps masked as “unlimited but if you go over X-GB per month, we will cut your speed down to 512 KB/sec”. How is it possible that in Denmark I was paying 23 EUR per month for 5G unlimited mobile Internet?

  9. 20€ for 20 GB in Portugal, and if you have a second number with that it’s 30€ for 2 numbers with 20 GB each.

So around 1€ per GB for a single number. Where is this data from?

  10. This information is useless for most people, and gives a bad representation of real data prices in different countries. Countries where it is normal to get unlimited data plans appear to be more expensive on this map, because the prices shown on this map aren’t the average price per gig, but rather the average price OF 1gb, as in you literally walked into a shop and asked for 1gb of internet.

A more interesting map would be one showing the average price of unlimited data/or it’s availability in different countries.
