‘…not willing nor mandated to limit what is discussed on r/Switzerland’

  1. Here’s my top level comment (I hope) – this image is a cap of some text contained in the World Cup mega thread intro.

The mod team can and does, by its own rules that one can read on the ‘about’ page limit what is posted and discussed on r/Switzerland. The last ‘mega thread’ about the World Cup had something like 13 comments. A post about Olten will have 50 or more in the first few hours. Images and vacation and salary questions will get deleted. And that is all fine, as it’s per ‘the rules’.

I just wonder why r/Switzerland really needs a ‘mega thread’ for something that is clearly divisive, and clearly not even really that ‘mega’ – (especially when compared to an Olten post).

  2. This whole “megathread” is just so sad.

The half-hearted attempt at altering the discourse by citing some “more nuanced” opinions.

The lame cop out that ultimately undermines every air of authority the mod team has.

The complete lack of interaction with the thread by the community.

Mods, if you want to have some kind of megathread for a topic you are personally invested in, then just be honest and state so outright. But this behaviour is just really irritating and laughable.
