Can someone explain to an American?

  1. My guess is that Dalalåven is a ski lodge or similar near/part of Sogndal Ski center, and medbrakt lunch means lunch you’ve brought with you (and as such is banned from places where you can buy food)

  2. So it’s a local reference, but there was an article in in the corresponding regional newspaper where the insinuation was that anyone who brought their own food instead of buying it there would get “banished” to the Mini-Dalalåven, which is essentially just a shack outside the main building made from old portable offices, making it seem like a poorhouse in comparison. (It looks a bit crap as well, tbf)

It’s definitely a weird one, although Sogn in general has had a few weird news stories the past week or so…

  3. Makes no sense to me either, but that’s Sogndal for you – a place populated by mental midgets and so ugly that it would be improved by being burnt to the ground and then flattened by an avalanche.

  4. “Medbrakt” always referees to something with alcohol, if you talked about food it would be “matpakke”
