  1. I’ve ate it only few times, but I do like it a lot. I just don’t like making soups at home, because those are so annoying to heat up.

  2. I love it! Also it’s useful for teaching kids about the benefits of saving something good for later, ie. don’t eat all the sausage first!

  3. Sometimes when feeling like to have it. Did you know that u can also make good siskonmakkara like a meatball, fry them in a pan and add tomato or cream sauce with pasta? 😉

  4. I had it in school many times and I loved it. After school I have not had it.

Everyone else seemed to hate it and I have no idea why.

  5. I eat it too often now that I am trying to lose some weight with easy soups and other foods.

Siskonmakkarakeitto is literally the best soup there is IMO.

  6. I eat it sometimes. I work in a kindergarten and the kids have a cheap school food version sometimes. It always inspires me to make it properly at home.

  7. I never eat it, but I have tried it and didn’t like it that much. But then again, I am a vegetarian, I hate sausages, and above all, I really, really hate soup.

  8. Thanks for the new recipe idea! I made Mustikkapiirakka for Thanksgiving but no one tried it. I’ve never had this so I’m down to see what I can do, looks tasty!!

  9. Last time was in school probably couple of decades ago. But I do make normal makkarakeitto quite often. More root vegetables the better.

  10. Not often, but I do like it a lot when I have it. I am not a native Finn, but my husband and his family are. My mother-in-law makes it once in a while and it is quite good. I have learned to make lohikeitto and enjoy that very much!

  11. At this point this sub is basically just “Have you finnish people tried [common finnish food]? Do you like it?”

  12. I think I had it once at school more than 25 years ago and didn’t like it. I don’t remember eating it since then.

  13. I’ve never eaten it (if we don’t count potatoes in it) and never will. It looks so unappetizing that I can’t make mysel to taste it.

When I was in ala-aste, siskonmakkarapäivänä you weren’t allowed to take food yourself because everyone was trying to get as many sausages as possible. I still remember lunch lady’s face when I asked not to put any sausages on my plate. “Really? Are you sure? Just potatoes?”
