Interested in separate suggestions both for walking around and for running. What brand and model do you suggest? And **equally importantly**, where can I find them in Helsinki region? Current plan is going to XXL Tammisto and buying [Icebug Speed2 BUGrip](https://www.xxl.fi/icebug-speed2-bugrip-miesten-nastatalvikenka-musta/p/1175643_1_style).

  1. I currently have Salomon studded running shoes. Very durable and studs have a good grip. I bought Icebugs for walking but they tend to chafe.

  2. I guess running shoe recommendations are usually a bit of a hit-and-miss without more details but I’ve used Asics Gel-Fujisetsu. I can’t really fault them for anything. If you really wanted to nitpick, the lack of a gaiter makes it possible for snow to get in to the shoe if you’re running on snowy trails. Although, that’s pretty obvious when looking at the shoe.

  3. Icebugs are a good choice for everyday walking. All the bigger department stores sell them, example, prisma, citymarket.. sporting goods stores like xxl are probably the best places to find more variety in these kind of shoes.

  4. One option is sievi spike shoes. Those have two retractable spike under heel. Not for running but works at shop trip and no annoying walking with spikes in shop.

Not cheapest tho. Halonen might sell those and some workwear stores.

  5. VJ is a small Finnish brand that’s focused on grippy running shoes, including studs. They’ve had two brands, VJ and Sarva, but I think they’ve now consolidated everything under VJ (with some makes called Sarva), but some shops still call them Sarva.. Icebug lasts didn’t work for me so I have a pair of those, they’re decent.

Varuste.net in Konala has a decent selection of Icebug and VJ and potentially something else too (Inov-8 orienteering shoes if you’re looking for something more trail running style).
