COMREG inspecting post? (Pet GPS tracker from Amazon)

  1. Info. Bought Pet GPS from Amazon. Received notification from Amazon to contact An Post as it had been stopped at customs. Contacted An Post who directed me to Revenue. Sent revenue an email and the above was the reply.

Edit: It is a product from an European company (based in Switzerland). It’s a high end product and not a no name Chinese product.

  2. I had a pet tracker a few years ago that just used a standard pay-as-you-go SIM card. Can’t imagine why COMREG would have an issue if yours is the same? 🤷‍♂️
Hopefully they’ll release it as soon as they see it.

  3. Chances are they had a look at it and it had no CE markings, It could interfere with electronic or medical devices near it. A lot of Chinese products are sold without these certifications and get through but they aren’t really allowed to be sold here. It might still be allowed to come in if they think there isn’t too much risk.

  4. It’s a device equipped with a transmitter (I’m assuming) coming from outside the EU. Needs to be checked to make sure that it complies with EU frequency band assignments.
