Residents voice concerns in heated meeting over asylum seekers

  1. Yep. They are being pushed out to the poor areas.

The combination of this with poor police coverage is a violent culture war waiting to happen

  2. I really think it shows the absurd levels that xenophobia has reached in this country when instead of allowing one’s obviously failing seaside hotel to continue receiving a rather generous stream of government funds, one would rather the entire business fails so one can be a martyr due to the brown people in boats.

Like all petty-business tyrants, these hotel owners will be taking large whacks of taxpayer money all whilst claiming extreme poverty, then once they’ve creamed off enough, close the business and retire to Madeira all the time loudly moaning ‘we had no choice!’

  3. So I only vaguely imagine the experience of the residents from the article and cannot empathise properly, but… I mean, what do they want to happen? And how?

    > He [Matt Warman] said: “Three points that I’ve made time and time again, as have many other members of parliament, is that we need to deter people from making those journeys across the Channel in the first place.

How? How much would it cost? Would it be worth it?

  4. If people had not vote for the Tories then we might have a government that would at least have built more immigration centres, invested in proper border forces, collaborated with the French and EU governments, and have sped up the asylum process. The crisis is not just the number of people making the journey across the Channel, it is our own failure to deal with the migrants efficiently when they are rescued and brought to the UK.

  5. Plenty of room in Ruanda… but no, I have to walk past drunken tramps who can’t speak English at 6am sleeping in the bus stop.

Girls are completely safe walking to school a couple of hours later I’m sure…

  6. The UK has had enough.

No more refugees. Cut down on immigration.

These problems are out of control and we need to actually do something about it.
