The US parliamentary survey of March 2021 classified the F35 as a fiasco (technically and financially)
Adam Smith president of the US parliament chamber for military purchases declared on 30 June 2021 the F35 as an endless money pit (final costs cannot be calculated at this moment and are re-evaluated continually towards a higher number)
The number of ordered F35 by the US airforce has to be re-evaluated towards a significant lower number due to the ballooning costs as communicated by the US court of auditors.
There is no operational flight simulator at this moment for the F35 (so pilots cannot be trained)
The F35 cannot undergo a final technically evaluation by the US airforce because the fighter jet is still in development
Intermediate technical evaluations by the US airforce have shown 871 technical malfunctions (ejection seat, radar, paint, batteries, jet engines, nocturnal camera, UI, HUD, board cannon, etc…)
Extremely high maintenance scheme of 131 days per year which allows for 180 to 200 flying hours per year or ½ hour per day)
Combat possibilities of the F35 are limited (dogfigts are lost against F16 and F18)
F35 software is proven to be successfully hackable etc etc etc etc…
1 plane costs more than 100M€ 👀
Amazing news for Finland
Surprised Finland didn’t choose Gripen, since Sweden is their neighbor, it would have been a good Scandinavian thing to do. I was hoping Norway would go Gripen too.
This purchase is noting more than bowing to the interests of Lockheed Martin and the political pressure of the Biden administration. The F35 is detrimental to the EU air defence and a present to Putin.
This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://apnews.com/article/business-europe-denmark-sweden-finland-23145e3e72cd1ac6058ea24db14bc8ed) reduced by 72%. (I’m a bot)

> HELSINKI – Finland has agreed to buy 64 Lockheed Martin fighter jets to replace its aging fleet of combat planes in a 10 billion-euro deal that represents the Finnish military's largest ever purchase, the government said Friday.
> The U.S. aerospace, arms and defense company said in a statement it was "Honored" the Finnish government picked the F-35 "Through its thorough, open competition.”
> Direct procurement from Lockheed, including weapons, is worth about 8.4 billion euros with the additional 1.6 billion earmarked for the weapons package optimization, equipment, construction of hangars and future amendments, the Finnish government said.
One does think, what could mankind do with the money that we waste into things we hope we’ll never need. Some spend their life building things, other trying to figure out how to destroy.
Good choice, put in has states he wants to bring all of Russia back together again. Don’t know if that includes Finland but fins are the only people to defeat Russia in winter so, as far as I know so they may want to think that over again. Time to fatten up military strength.

Why this is not a sane investment:
