Sensitive, these Arab chaps considering their child marriages.
Considering Qatar are anti gay, they surely are shafting FIFA right up the shitter hard. Actually it’s harder for the England team to “It’s coming home, football is coming home!” bring a trophy back than FIFA leaning over a table.
Meanwhile the vips are sitting in the glass box with crossdressed dancing little boys.
In b4 chants of slogans crusaders would use instead.
On second thought, let’s not go to Qatar. ‘Tis a silly place.
How many countries at the World Cup have not committed atrocities in their past? It’s not like the Muslim community has not had its own internal struggles either, Sunni vs. Shia certainly springs to mind. Part of football is taking the mick out of your opponents and doing it in jest like this is not a personal attack on Qatar or Islam. Qatar really needs to pull the stick out of its arse.
I have never known such a farce of a world cup where the main bother is what fans are wearing.
Meanwhile, in the most blatantly corrupt World Cup ever, in one of the most morally corrupt countries on the planet, all of a sudden these middle-eastern teams who have never been able to compete on an international level all seem to be doing really well…
Funny, that.
On the other post everyone was saying “the two guys are idiots for bringing up the word ‘woke'”.
So what else is it if it’s not woke mentality? They’re playing dress up. They’re literally dressing up as cartoon knights. If someone finds that offensive…
I thought this was a strange place to host the World Cup, but I was mostly indifferent. But it’s now obvious hosting a game in Qatar just comes with way too much baggage. They’re too opinionated about their cultural values, are very sensitive and thin skinned, and their security is just dumb.
The way they treat Iranian spectators even mentioning Mahsa Amini’s name is pathetic. Getting upset at Crusader costumes is also absolutely pathetic.
I think the way Qatar and FIFA are working in coordination to stymie the expression of other people’s cultures especially when it doesn’t explicitly go against Qatar’s culture is objectionable.
Qatar when it bid for the world cup essentially opened its doors to the world to invite other cultures and tourists in order to enjoy Qatar’s hospitality .
When you go to your friends house the host is usually kind and inviting and you aren’t subject to excessively strict rules.
What Qatar needs to realise it at somepoint the oil will stop following and there economy will be damaged because they won’t be able to attract tourists because people will not forget their treatment at the world cup.
Also football albeit I don’t enjoy football ; it was originally invented by the British and their is something fundamentally wrong with suppressing traditions that derive from the very sport the British invented.
According to their original bid Qatar wanted to use this World Cup to “build bridges between the west and themselves”….. going great at the moment I’d say
everyone is shocked, but if an arab comes dressed as a nazi to an english game it’s tea and crumpets everywhere.
I have watched every world cup since 1982, not this one.
I know Qatar are a fucking awful regime and have little room for moral posturing, and that they are being ridiculous in banning any rainbows and armbands. But you can know that and still recognise this behaviour as highly offensive and deliberately so.
Imagine German fans coming to a tournament hosted in England dressed as Nazis.
This bunch of dickheads have gone out there with the intention to take the piss out of a foreign country and it’s right that they should be banned from doing so
Oh look, Danish fans dressed up as Vikings inside a stadium in Qatar.
Surely England vs USA you go dressed as tea bags or red coats??
Fuck FIFA. One of the most corrupt organisations on the planet.
And I hope England Players to dress up with OneLove and rainbow flag armbands-oh wait.
Fuck FIFA and it’s corrupt bullshit, but maybe it is a little offensive chaps.
Not dressed as crusaders, they are dressed as St George – the patron Saint of England. If the Welsh with their dragons are not offended, everyone else needs to sort themselves out.
Edir: yes, these blokes are numpties, but at least ban them the right reasons.
So in other words, 8th century arabic clothing ok, 8th century English clothing bad.
I guess Orlando Bloom is banned as well for defending Jerusalem during the crusades.
Sounds to me like religion in general was the root cause of everyone’s issue here no matter which side you are on.
Aren’t they dressed up as St George, the patron saint of England? Though of course he wasn’t actually English or even British for that matter but that’s what I’ve always assumed they are representing when I’ve seen folks dressed up like this at England matches.
Just wondering, would you rather have the world cup in Saudi Arabia, Qatar or Morocco.
