Must be great being a Tory and also a brexiter.
If it rains, just deny it’s raining. And then you wont get wet
Man, I love Hunt’s arrogance and self-belief that he is right when so many people who actually know what they are talking about disagree with him. A man whose sole experience of economics was working briefly for a PR firm and running an online directory 20 years ago.
What must it be like to be a Tory, hey!
Does he accept figures that have already come to be showing we are massively behind since Brexit?
The national debt, and fiscal deficit, has been affected far more by the pandemic than Brexit.
Overall trade with the EU this year has recovered since 2021 to about the same level as it was in 2020.
Brexit was a political decision, not an economic one. It’s highly unlikely to be reversed, because there are many nations in the EU who either never wanted us in, or were happy to see us go, so if those nations were to have a veto, it would be used.
It’s time to stop forecasting what would have happened if we had stayed in the EU. Because it’s both pointless and backward looking.
So just the conservatives acting as they usually do then
Cherrypicking the facts you like and rejecting the ones you don’t is very much in the spirit of Brexit.
It must be lovely being a Tory, you get your own little pick ‘n mix fantasy world to live in.
He’s either utterly delusional, incompetent, or a fool … or all three!
My money is on the latter.
Great. A self delusional coke head in the Chancellery, what could go wrong?
The effect of COVID-19 will be 2%, whilst the effect of Brexit will be 4%.
Meanwhile, Ministers with their fingers in their ears, La, La, La, what I can’t hear you.
The one thing that annoys me about Tories being dense is you never know exactly how much of it is an act, and how much of it is just them being their true selves. The mixture of Machiavellian bastardry and lifetimes of blinding privilege and cossetting make it really hard to judge.
Ha ha if i did that at work it’ll have disastrous consequences and I’ll be on a PIP faster than you can say Jeremy Cunt.
Interesting, if the same was done by Truss, she would be crucified, but I guess if it’s said by millionaire’s anointed by Klaus Schwab, stealing our democracy, it’s okay.
This government must be dissolved and investigated. We need General Elections.
You are not supposed to say that part out loud Jeremy. You are a Tory, you are supposed to lie instead.
I think I’ll start doing the same, I’m sure the bank’ll accept that I just don’t agree with them.
> The chancellor acknowledged the “transition” to new trading relationships was causing “difficulties for some businesses” but argued “the opportunities for Brexit” could overcome them.
What are those opportunities?
This is literally what kwasi said about the obr too…”i listen to them when I think they are right”
And then went on a rant saying the obr….the obr …the obr at the dispatch box while Labour mocked him to his face.
And the bond markets shit themselves when they saw the extra borrowing he had planned.
Hunt better be praying for wartime miracle and energy elves to put the European pipelines back to together if he hope energy prices will go down.
Otherwise government borrowing will balloon over the energy relief grant.
Let’s not forget as well the establishment of the obr was Tory policy under Osborne.
Fuck me you’ve got to be a really shit chancellor to make George Osborne look competent
Idiot
We’ve already suffered measurable harm
I’m not a plumber so if something happens in the bathroom, I call a plumbing expert.
I’m not a gas engineer so if something happens with the boiler, I call a gas expert.
I could write more than enough of those but you get the point. Watching select committees across some different topics, it always amazes me how effortlessly some EXPERTS can put their views & opinions across to the MPs on the select committees but when it comes to bigger policy decisions, the Cabinet MPs in charge are like
“Nah, fuck you and your advice, I’m going to wing it.”
Absolute joke.
“Sir you’re £20k in debt and we will foreclose your house.”
“That’s only your opinion, I don’t accept that I’m in debt, actually I’m a millionaire!”
Hunt being a cunt, nothing new to see here, move along, move along.
To a certain extent he is right. Economists never get anything right.
more Brexit denial, but the other side is just as hopeless so he will get away with it.
Reality does not have a right wing bias and that really angers some people. Ignoring reality is not going to work and people are starting to see through the cracks as their wages don’t cover the basics anymore. Hunt can claim Brexit has not made us poorer but we have the worst economy of the G7 and are looking at a recession in the near future, one that will take us a long time to recover from. Other European economies are not doing perfectly but they are still in a better position than we are to get through their rough patches. If the Tories wanted Brexit to be a success in any way then they should have negotiated a much better deal. They only have themselves to blame for all this.
We are on third or fourth rate prime ministers and cabinet members by now.
None of them have a clue how to fix the mess.
Johnson’s brexit deal with the EU was the worst possible deal. They could blame Johnson and negotiate a deal in the light of current circumstances – but they can’t back down.
You know how they make money from these deals like brexit? Why don’t they have to pay when they fuck it all up? Why are they the ones not suffering for their actions?
Is it any wonder people trip up over his surname. He’s incredibly arrogant.
I expect he also doesn’t believe the forecasts that they’re about 30 points behind labour, and they actually really have the support of the majority of the public.
How did being delusional become a prerequisite to be in the cabinet? Since Johnson got in, and needing it to be able to seriously work under him?
Post truth.
This will all bite us badly as people loose faith in institutions.
Breaking: entitled man way out of his depth is in DENIAL!
