Huge crowds gather in Cobh to protest Dutch warships arriving and show that the “vast vast majority” of Irish people don’t want them.

  1. They’re a force to be reckoned with. “Over 50” people at their last demonstration outside Leinster House aparently.

  2. Military ships have been coming here for years. In my time working near the docks, I’ve seen Russian warships, Dutch warships, French warships, British warships and American warships docked in Dublin, with the French docking in Dun Laoghaire. I’m probably one of the few people who remembers, and got to visit, the USS John F Kennedy back all the way in 1996.

    Wait til this crowd hear that NATO observers from major European militaries and the United States were on the Kilworth artillery range only recently, in order to assess Irish Army artillery interoperability with foreign forces.

  3. Out of all the ships to protest against. Its entire service history is missions like delivering hurricane relief or medical supplies during the ebola outbreak

  4. WTF are Dutch War ships doing in Cobh?

    It’s not an invasion of the Dutch is it?

    They come to reclaim all there Delft blue china?

    Ahhhhh. =)

  5. OK, new rule. You aren’t allowed to call it a protest if every single person there arrives in the same fucking car.

  6. Anyone else not so secretly hoping they start shelling Cork a wee bit? Just enough to show them that being 1m more above sea level doesn’t make them great again.

  7. Socialists ? Unemployed? Trying to justify themselves ? I wouldn’t mind if they took over our country look at the state of our country anyway, idiots running it.
