Yesssss!!!! And make people that chew gum register their DNA
Given they can barely put the right food in the right bags, I doubt gold up much hope for any sort of ‘legal action’ to go anywhere
Keep the bag in the car, chuck out the smellier stuff
We all know how these people operate
Can’t see it going anywhere.
Imagine you put your rubbish in the bin. Then when the bin’s are emptied, your rubbish blows out / falls out, and you get done despite doing your bit right.
It’s a no starter.
I suspect this one will have a lot of unintended consequences.
Make sure you don’t throw your trash out near an active crime scene
Or you could just do as so many other countries do and put a tax on takeaway containers so people either return them or money is raised to clean up
One near a canal on my commute you’d think an employee could cross the street and sort it pretty sure that used to be what they had to do.
Time for Ubereats and Deliveroo drivers to get shafted.
Disgusting brits who litter everywhere. They are animals. Moving to Australia opened my eyes to how bad it was back home
Surely you could just tear the bit off with the plate written on then toss the rest?
Not against solutions though. Litterers are filth.
When the local branch went 24hrs on the drive thru, there was a dramatic increase in the amount of these bags appearing roadside around the village.
I don’t get why people do this. It happens though, so i guess it’s good that the problem is being actively looked at.
Good idea but sadly it will be peasants paying the additional 2 p for fries, not the giant for profit corporation McDonalds – and why not extend to other shops ?
I live near a holiday park about 15 minutes away from the nearest maccas. Every day there is a new pile of litter on the verges approaching the park as people just throw it out of their windows on the way back to their static caravans. Even if this stamp isn’t enough for legal action, its enough for the park staff who have to pick it up every day to invoice them for litter picking services, since so many of their guests are determined to be such dirty pigs.
Thank god ! I don’t know why it’s taken so long to do it.
Too many people dumb there litter at the side of the road and way too many people feel comfortable littering and it’s absolutely shameful
Anytime a maccy-d opens, rubbish in the local area increases. The clientele could do with an anti-littering lesson or two.
what would stop someone from tearing off the bit with their reg number, then dumping the rest?
unless the whole bag will have the reg number printed all over, woven into the visual design of the bag.
TBH Mcdonald’s packaging really isn’t that environmentally bad (relative to others) – last winter, I fed pretty much everything, bar the cups, to my wormery.
I’d say 80-90% of litter on my street is rubbish that has blown/fallen out on collection, of over filled recycling boxes.
“By using are facilities you agree to us collecting data on your “car” and retaining it, and possibly sharing it”
The litter is starting to get absolutely disgusting around me. Just worse and worse. A proper reminder of our National decline.
I try clean it up but it’s not possible to get it all. And there’s always more adding to it.
I get sick of broken glass on pavements especially around lampposts etc
In the blink of an eye it’ll be the next TikTok challenge – raid a McTrash can and spread license printed bags all over the neighborhood.
Lots of “…oh, look what I jjust found~!” videos showing piles of McTrash
I worked at McDonald’s as a kid and we did hourly litter sweeps. Used to follow the trail to about a mile radius. Was a great way of getting away from the “if you can lean you can clean” bs for an hour.
I do notice a complete lack of public bins in some high streets now days though.
On the surface this seems an excellent idea. Drive throughs certainly are a blight all round.
A friend at work went to the chippy down the road from him.
He asked if they could serve either a few less or a few more chips as the servings they were selling lasted long enough that they were finished just as they got to his house, and he was fed up of picking up the rubbish chucked over his wall.

Time to buy at the counter and print my neighbours reg on them
To be honest mcdonalds bag is least of my worry, reason being most of the packaging are somewhat bio degradable. Those packaging from online orders and fast fashion on the other hand….
People will just rip it off before dumping.
I was driving on the motorway when this blubber arm came out the passenger window holding a giant mcdonald’s bag at the bottom. She then tipped the back upside down, tipped all the rubbish out and the let go of the bag. Utter cunts. Sent dashcam to police but never heard back.
Let’s guess that it costs £2 to pick up and dispose of one item of McD rubbish.
Rather than targeting the vehicle driver, which has its own set of practical issues, we already know it’s MaccyD. So just send an invoice to MaccyD Corporate for the cleanup costs plus a penalty? Say, £5 per item. They MaccyD Corporate can do whatever they want to recoup the cost by packaging elimination/redesign etc.
Same for drink cans/bottles. Invoice Coke etc £5 per litter item.
Same for cars. Audi cars killing 50 people @ £2.5m each, injure thousands per year @ £100k each, as a result of dangerous speeds? Send Audi an invoice for, say, £500m every year. Then perhaps they might decide to limit speed & acceleration, disable the engine when they collide with things or go onto a pavement etc.
£Billions in revenue for social good, and forces companies to improve.
This kind of disgusting crap really fills me with revulsion
and the littering plan is pretty daft as well
I was at McDonald’s today and almost half the parking spaces had litter around them as if just thrown out the car window when there’s a bin like 10 feet away.
Some people are just scruffy ignorant morons.
Just come from Singapore and it’s so clean and there’s no bins , people just take the rubbish with them
Same with Japan
I’m lucky enough to live in the Peak District, and every time you’re in a car park or lay-by in a beauty spot, 8/10 times you can guarantee if there’s rubbish dumped it’s going to be fucking McDonalds for some reason.
Ruins the atmosphere of the dogging if nothing else.
