Mass Media Omertà: Burying Al Jazeera’s ‘The Labour Files’

  1. Because British politics is a bunch of glorified schoolyard nonsense. The response of most is “it only happened to one of the unpopular kids, so who cares?”

  2. It’s not been picked up because of the pretty obvious overlaying biases in the “investigatory journalism” present. “We spoke to load of Jeremy Corbyn supporters, and you’ll never guess what they had to say about the state of the party”. I mean, pretty sure Labour is canny toxic whatever part of it you identify with, and it’s current UKIP-lite “say whatever you think people want to hear depending on the audience in front of you” approach is a huge turn off for me, but don’t act like this is some huge, Earth-shattering impartial exposé.

I’m sure this is the sort of thing Novara would wank themselves silly over (because who doesn’t like a bit of confirmation bias right?), but outside of that it’s not worth it’s salt. Closer to propaganda that actually journalism.

  3. For some time, the media have been reporting only what they want (even rumours) to drive the story that they want to push

Its because most of the populace just parrot whatever they last heard on the news. This is why the news use simple catch phrases that the proles can manage to discuss between themselves (“Cost of Living Crisis”, for example)

It doesn’t matter what side of the political spectrum you sit, we need to stop media owners from having this much power.

  4. There’s a “Mass Media Omerta” because it’s a bunch of anti-semitic bullshit from a news agency who has the worst track record for fair reporting regarding Israel, Jewish people or anti-semitism.

  5. If there’s an organisation I trust to report the truth on antisemitism, its definitely Al jazeera tbf. Dead neutral
