Is the car maybe from the UK?
Then it could take a few days until the IE number is in the “system”
It’ll be an import most likely. If it’s a model that can be bought in Ireland (something like a Golf etc), there shouldn’t be any issues.
Go to motortax.ie and check the reg under road tax prices. If it doesn’t come up there there is definitely something amiss.
Maybe worth spending a few quid on cartell.ie or similar.
If you go see the car and are still suspicious this would be worth reading before you go.
