Not surprising. 4 of those top 10 are neutral countries.
in order? look at the numbers…
Based on what? The authors feelings? This island was plagued by sectarian violence and any ‘peaceful country’ list featuring Japan and Germany has to be slightly off
Edit: never mind Germany or Japan; how the fuck does the UK qualify as the 34th most peaceful country?
Is this based on wars or internal policing records or just some made up bull shit?

Germany? 👀
What is this, Qatari propaganda?
What defines “peaceful”? War or day to day life?
I thought this was safest countries to live in
A few numbers are skipped – also who reports the peacefulness – how is the “peace” kept (Malaysia? Qatar?)
It’s probably not wrong. We have a low murder rate, low gun ownership, I don’t think terrorist attacks happen here at all, we’re politically stable. We don’t even have extreme weather events or dangerous animals like you’d get in Canada and Australia. This isn’t particularly surprising tbh
Sorry but Ireland isn’t very peaceful lifewise
I definitely think we could take New Zealand and Iceland in a fight and become the most peaceful country 🥊🥊
Commere to me and I’ll box ya
Fuck you Denmark
Jayney I dunno, have they been in an Irish town at kicking out time?
This means nothing without context.
Does it mean internally, day to day street crime or violent crime per capita or terrorist attacks, or involvement in violence overseas, occupation, weapons testing, what?
What’s the time frame?
I felt a lot safer in the streets of Tokyo than some areas of Dublin.
I moved from Malta to Ireland and yes its definitely more peaceful. Ireland is calm and beautiful.
Have I been misled, I was always told America was a peaceful place
“World of Statistics” but shows a ranking without numbers or methodology. Statistics for the mentally feeble – fantastic work.
Surely Switzerland should be more peaceful than Germany or the UK lol
Someone’s going to come in and say this doesn’t count cause it’s measured incorrectly or something.
Happens every thread about Ireland being highly ranked in something.
That twitter account just makes stuff up apparently
No Switzerland in the top 10?
How did the UK even make the list 😭
We won’t be in the top three for long, not if these war mongering fucks who want us to join NATO and spend billions building up our military get their way. The amount of air time given to this lately is staggering. I mean sure our soldiers need better personal equipment and better pay etc but we do not need to spend billions on a fleet of war machines to try and compete with imperial powers. The conflation of these issues is nonsense and purely aimed at getting us to join NATO and abandon our Nutral status
How is New Zealand number 2? They had troops in Afghanistan with Australia. There was a massive scandal a few years ago where the army was misleading investigators on how many civilians they killed during special forces raids. A stupid list of you ask me. What organisation even compiled it.
Where’s Russia? Surely they should be first on the list /s
What does “peaceful” mean? Just , not going to war?
What constitutes peaceful? There are a few empires in your list that have been a tiny bit naughty in the last 100 years…
Edited for typo
Wait wasn’t Denmark in Iraq?
They don’t fire the missiles, they just supply them. They also don’t declare war, they just tag along when their suzerain tells them to… unlike those warmongering Andorrans.
Curious to see the definition of “most peaceful.” What makes Ireland more peaceful than, say, Costa Rica, which abolished its armed forces back in the 1940s?
The trick is to have the gardaí not record the crimes, and not be worth reporting to in the first place.
Its not accurate.
Ireland has given logistical support to americas war crimes – bombings and even full on abduction and torture campaigns. We are totally complicent in the droning of weddings and funurals as well.
Lol England made the list ffs.
Austria…pretty sure one of the least peaceful people ever came from Austria….
Good, good. Now let’s go a couple decades back and see where you rank
Make sure you skip #’s 11, 13 and 15 cause that doesn’t fit our narrative
Bollix methodology at play here. If we’re not a member of NATO and we have a neutrality policy it means we get bumped up the rankings.
However, if we factor in the likelihood of getting thumped outside a chipper at 2am we’d be way down the list.
Whats the metric?
Where is Brunei? They had a rebellion in “62 and nothing since?
I feel this considers Ireland minus everything about Dublin.

A lot of people seem to be questioning the source or validity of the data. The authors appear to have sourced it from here: https://www.economicsandpeace.org/reports/
Up the ‘RA!
Poor Sweden
Finally bet Denmark
