  1. This is an intriguing marketing for variety of reasons.
    Medium dark roast arabica beans, pretty much taste the same mostly the difference being the country of origin. The ones coming from south America I feel usually have a stronger flavor then ones in Africa. Iceland like most countries go with medium roast simply because that’s what they prefer a light coffee taste whereas I prefer a stronger coffee taste so I prefer a darker roast.

    What I’m saying is that it is interesting that anyone would buy that thinking they’re somehow getting an Icelandic style coffee when the beans undoubtedly come from America, Africa or Indonesia higher the altitude enhances the flavor why the ones from South America taste the best to me hehe. 🦊 Yet is also why I can tell most coffee shops in Iceland are using African beans simply because of the taste an interest of mine is trying out coffee from almost every coffee shop I see. That and I make my own coffee with my espresso machine, I make the best lattes in Iceland and decent cappuccino too though I only have coffee shops to compare to hehe.

  2. Shouldn’t it have hints of milk chocolate and licorice? If Reykjavík has a taste then it’s definitely not fruity sweets and toffee.

  3. Pure marketing. Historically Icelandic coffee tradition is just regular drip coffee, during hard times (recession, WWII etc) people used coffee substitute made from roasted chicory root. During the 90´s coffee tradition in Iceland matured and local coffee roasters opened up and Icelanders started drinking espresso etc.

  4. I lived abroad for years, that would’ve made its way into my grocery bag every day if only for the nostalgia/fun factor!
