how do you get rid of the buildup of snow under the car?

  1. My car never gets to park in a warm place, so it builds up a lot of super tight ice and snow just behind the front tires. I’m afraid it might damage the tires or might affect steering while driving.

How do you guys get rid of this without ruining the paint?

  2. Pro tip: Do groceries in some big Prisma or other mall and drive to the indoor parking. By the time you are back, these babies are on the floor.

  3. Install mudflaps/splash guards if they are available for your car. They will mostly limit the buildup to within the wheel wells.

  4. Each time you park your car, you need to check the car for snow/sleet/slush buildup and try to remove it, mostly by kicking it, as others have answered.

A soft buildup may freeze overnight to rock-solid ice and it’s then much harder to remove afterwards, instead of removing it immediately after driving.

Also, it’s naturally much easier to keep the car clean when you remove any buildup after each drive, instead of letting it accumulate for a longer time.

If the buildup is really bad you’ll need to drive it to a warm parking garage like that of a shopping mall, citymarket, prisma, etc. where you can leave it to thaw and melt for some hours.

  5. Kick it! It’s the most satisfying thing ever.

I once mistook a strange car for my own on a big marketti parkkis and went happily kicking the snow. Then I realized it wasn’t mine but thank God the owner didn’t show up. Some people from other cars were probably a bit confused when I then went to kick another car.
