  1. This was via a bugged car that both men were not aware of while Dowdall was allegedly driving Hutch to meet the IRA. Before people start calling Dowdall a FFG plant.

  2. Well this is fucking nuts. Mary Lou needs to clarify what exactly her relationship is with Gerry Hutch and why the IRA army council are controlling the Dublin drug dealers. You think she’s not aware that the IRA are so heavily involved?

  3. This suggests that the leader of the opposition has some sort of relationship with a long established inner city criminal who is involved in one of the most high profile murders in recent memory.

The fact that he is with a former SF Councillor who also had a relationship with her adds further fuel to the fire.

There will be a whole cohort of people that will not be surprised at all by this. Then there will be a whole separate cohort who will ignore it.

  4. The full quote:
    >“But yous were good enough Gerard to use for votes, yous were good enough to use for money,” he said.

Dowdall then criticises her for not going to the hutch funeral.

    >Dowdall criticised Ms McDonald for not attending the funeral of Mr Hutch’s brother Edward, who was shot dead.

    >He said: “She was on the telly the night Neddy got shot and she branded everybody as scumbags.

  5. I cannot wait to hear the whataboutery from the bots on this one.

A Sinn Fein member, known to the party leader, going to the North to meet the IRA, accompanied by a gangland criminal. Nevermind the fucking rest of it around money and votes.

Sure promise a few gaffs, and it’ll all go away. Right?

  6. No matter how Sinn Fein tries to spin that it’s not connected to criminality it’s pretty clear that the IRA are still very much active and Sinn Fein leadership are caught up in this sordid business. Would a Sinn Fein government be accountable to the people or to a bunch of terrorist criminals profiting from the misery of the drug trade?

  7. its funny really when you know whom in the party is related to Kinahans ma. they have connections all over the place.

in saying that a fair few parties do. it only matters if you use those connections.

the penguin mitchell has blood ties to a fg member.

  8. Just because he said it doesn’t mean it’s true and I honestly don’t think it would stand any scrutiny in a court setting unless Dowdall can specifically point to transactions that took place. Until then its just hearsay

  9. No real surprise here to be honest. Generally Sinn Fein, finance and internal governance too opaque to lead a democratic country. Don’t whataboutery@me

  10. This is even more intriguing when you see that Daniel Kinahan’s solicitor is Sinn Fein MP John Finucane. The links are terrifying and obvious but people will still vote for SF, largely out of both desperation for change and exasperation of how little has been done to improve our crises (particularly housing).

There’s legitimate concerns now about how deep the links between Sinn Fein and the IRA and Dublin’s drug criminality lie, but also we’ve long standing legitimate concerns about how decades of FF and FG in power have led to housing, public transport and climate armageddon.

  11. This single event has so many layers, Sinn Fein, The existence of the IRA army council, Gangland collusion with the Garda at the highest level, and I’m sure there is more that will come over time.

    Honestly some Netflix material

  12. r/ireland: criminals are the scum of the earth and we should be executing them in the streets!

Also r/ireland: I fully and completely trust and believe this criminal

Maybe there’s a reason this isn’t really being picked up by anyone?

  13. We don’t talk enough about the Regency shootings.

“Awright we’re goin in der and fuckin blastin dese cunse”

    “Hurr yeah sounds good boss”

“We’re gonna dress up as garda, it’s a perfect disguise, balaclavas and all, SWAT gear, good wha”

    “Ah boss dats class”

    “….boss….?”

    “Yes Aido?”

    “About the garda gear….”

    “Yeah Aido wha abou it?”

“I think…. I think I should dress up as a sexy blonde woman instead”

    “…..”

“I have the dress already and have matched it with a cute jumper. But would you go shoulder length or bob. And tights or no?”

WHY WERE THEY ALL DRESSED AS SWAT TEAM BUT ONE OF THEM WAS DRESSED AS A WOMAN, IT MAKES NO SENSE

  14. and that folks is the way organised criminals get their tentacles into everything. They use their money and influence to get what they want while destroying everything around them. at the moment it’s all sub judice but when it’s over, whatever the result, I do hope some of our best journalists and writers make that point.

It’s is not laughable to compare it to Narcos. Just a better veneer.

  15. Hopefully this sends SF back to a 2 TD party. I wouldn’t mind if they had some talent in the ranks, buy they have clowns.

  16. That is absolutely damning. Sitting in a car with Hutch without any knowledge of them being recorded. I’m not shocked mind you, it’s SF for fuck sake. They are absolutely rotten. Gardai and PSNI are still convinced that the army council is involved and the scum they have in their ranks (Dessie fucking Ellis) is nothing but a big foghorn letting you know

  17. But i thought Sinn Fein had to be better than the current government no matter what?. This really doesn’t fit that narrative at all.

They are gonna have to bring back their old leader. At least Gerry Adams had no ties to criminal organisations…..
