  1. I’m thinking about studying cognitive science in Bergen. What’s the best way to find a place to live there while studying? My girlfriend might study there as well so it would make things easier from a financing perspective.

Should i try get a job while studying there? I have some experience in IT, servers, web dev and some other stuff regarding computers. Still 19 though.

    Any help is appreciated :))

  2. Try getting a place through studentsamskipnaden [sammen](https://www.sammen.no/en/bergen/housing)

Though I think you need to get accepted to the university before you can apply for housing at sammen, and also that have a limited amount of places. So if that doesn’t work out, try the private market:

[Finn](https://www.finn.no/) is generally the most used one.

    or

[Hybel.no](https://hybel.no/) is pretty big in most cities with universities

    Edit: formatting

Edit: also working along uni is always a good idea when studying in a larger city as living expenses can run high.

  3. congrats on the choice, bergen is by far the best city of Scandinavia

on the tips department learn the language, tho that shouldn’t be to difficult speaking Swedish

is that picture from bergen? don’t really recognise it, has to be something like ytre sandviken or arna

  4. Be prepared to work part time and still struggle!

The amount of time for courses, vs. Work, home life was the end of me. Gained a ton of kilos from stress, let my relationship wither away, and things only turned out marginally better.

If you’re an A student, takes good care of your partner and is already working part time with your studies, you might fare better. But I really don’t want to ever be a student again. On the pluss side, never got as good grades as the year I had saved up funds for, and no gf, I got my first A’s and went from a scraping C student to B.

  5. I find it funny you used a picture of Odda. Of anywhere in Vestlandet it’s about the saddest and bleakest city, maybe even the whole of Norway. If you are thinking about studying in Bergen at UiB, I’d say get a place to live with a good bus connection or close to bybanen. Living in the city center is pretty expensive and not really worth it if you have a good public transit option.

  6. Sorry, but if you really want to go “all for Norway”, you’ll have to be a double-agent so… back to Stockholm with you!
