  1. I thought rail had been privatised, and therefore nothing to do with the ‘government’. Looks like this is just another tory lie.

    There are so many, it really is an impossible task, just to keep track.

If the rail unions made a point of not striking over Christmas and New Year, to allow the public to travel reliably and enjoy this otherwise sorry Christmas, instead of giving a few days extra holiday to their members, they would gain much more public support, and they might even get the support of the Labour leadership.

    It would be far more politically damaging to the Conservatives, and so far more likely to achieve the desired result.
