Everyone and his / her mum knows there’s a cut on social housing
Result ? Nothing- move along and vote for thieves.
How many migrants getting council houses over English people? Remember when they gave some Somalian migrants a million pound townhouse in London.
We wouldn’t need as much social housing if they even made an attempt to make regular housing affordable but they don’t even want to do that. Rents are increasing so much it has almost everyone at a chokehold
Since 2010, government spending on housing has dropped by 60%. The rich scammers that are our MPs of course couldn’t care less about this and the poor and expected to just deal with all the cuts and lack of support.
It’s a paradise for landlords. Renting out multiple properties as an investment and income is great when you know that when you put rent up that government(s) will cover at least the part of it. Deposits and payments in advance are extortionate,…
The whole system needs looking at. Loads of housing out there where people needed it at the time but now have jobs and can afford private rent but continue to get the subsidised rate because it’s “their” homes. If you look on Facebook you’ll see loads of “swaps” gaming the system as they don’t need to re apply if they mutual exchange.
We have one of the highest % of social housing in the OECD, it is clearly not the panacea to solve our problems that we think it is…
Get to work and start contributing to society. We can’t afford to give everyone and their dog free housing. It’s frankly ridiculous we are advocating for this: too many people abuse the system, live on benefits in free housing, while the rest of us get taxed incredibly high (mine is 36%!!!) to pay for their privilege.
Our economy is stagnant because people are not productive. Get working and put money into the NHS and police instead.
The government keeps knocking them down and not replacing them, forcing people to either go homeless, live with family (unlikely possibly for most) or end up paying insane rents.
I mean 3.5 million people came here in the last 10 years, so If there’s pressure on low income social housing in urban areas maybe that’s a contributing factor.
