Ukraine anger over von der Leyen’s unverified “100,000 dead soldiers” claim in speech – it is now cut

  1. The number has been floating around for a while, but never been confirmed. I guess Von der Leyen saying it out loud just cheers on the Russians. This was clearly a faux pas on her behalf.

  2. It is a damn shame for the Ukrainian people. It is sad to see the social media of, say, Daria Bilodid, whose country is being stolen from her, and almost her sporting career too.

I would not be adverse to, for example, the SAS blowing up that Crimean bridge.

  3. Von der Leyen says a lot of stupid shit. She has a history of saying and doing stupid shit. Because she’s a stupid woman. And no, that’s not misogynistic. She’s just plain stupid. Even if it’s true what she said, she clearly shouldn’t have said it out loud. If only the EU was democratic and if we had an actual choice, instead of the EPP pushing yet another German into a top position…

Von der Leyen isn’t even liked or valued in her own country. How on earth could she perform on a European or international level? What is this woman doing in this position? Only because she’s German and EPP?

Shame on you, EU. We can do better than this shit.

  4. Why is EU commision bowing to Ukraine?

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised it actually is true. All we’ve heard from Ukraine and Russia was propaganda since start of war.

  5. That’s the number experts usually throw around, though. It might be uncomfortable for Ukraine, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s not very close the real number.

  6. This is what we get for having 3rd rate politicians running the UE.

Even if it’s true, WTF say it? Does highlighting the fact that at this rate Ukraine will quickly run out of able-bodied people to fight serve any positive purpose?

And then they cut that part of the video, after everyone having seen it, and tons of people downloading it at reposting it everywhere, and pretend it didn’t happen?

Compounding stupidity with more stupidity sure makes the EU look like a reliable partner!

  7. What is the point of her statement? The only thing it does is give Russia a morale boost.

In the article it mentions she wanted to show the brutality of Russia, but the civilian deaths are enough.

We know that Ukrainians aren’t mythical super soldiers and are dying too, there is no need for a specific figure.

I don’t know how this usually goes, but deleting it also feels like a bad decision, it just gives more ammunition to people who say that all the bad things happening to the Ukrainian military are being hidden, and that it’s all propaganda.
