  1. >However, investigations are ongoing to ascertain who the owner of the dog is, that attacked the boy.

something is seriously wrong when an owner of an animal like that can’t be immediately identified.

  2. Same pattern.

Refusal to accept reality of dangerous animals.
Attempted regulation to allow people own said animals.
Failure of regulations to change reality.
Human tragedy caused by said animals.
    Outcry.
    Dramatic Garda action.
Much satisfaction at the dramatic action (large swoop no less).
Lengthy discussion to ensure reality not faced.
Revised regulation to allow people own said animals.

    Rinse and repeat.

  3. Are we meant to be impressed by ‘Large garda swoop’? Everyone knew who this person was and where he lived.

  4. The person who owns these dogs breeds them for fighting apparently . He deserves a lengthy prison sentence for doing that alone. But of course he will get away scot free with at the most a suspended sentence .

  5. Hes 28 or 29 and I believe he was actually arrested for assaulting a woman who was trying to get the dog off the child. He’s well known to the guards so he probably has a handful of charges pending and was only up in court last week for breaking into his next door neighbours house and stealing a number of items. His mammy has taken umbrage to the locals posting about him and is sending threatening messages on Facebook.

  6. Pity they didn’t swoop last week after the dog attacked another child. Apparently that was reported too.

These criminals are making absolute fools of the taxpayers. It’s well beyond time repeat offenders we’re just removed from society.

  7. Stains like this individual will always exist, no amount of legislation around licensing of breeds will have a positive effect unfortunately. The more authorities clamp down on ownership of these breeds the more the scum want to own them.
Hopefully they find something decent to prosecute on and he serves a lengthy sentence.

  8. I see he’s been charged with threatening to kill as well as a number of other charges. Will be sentenced this week in Wexford. Begging for protection when he is sent to jail too. He’s fucked that many people off I’m not surprised he’s begging for it.

  9. I’ve been such an advocate for dogs not being the issue for so long but this story just changed my whole perspective. Even before when I’d heard of attacks I always blamed the owners and I know it is all the owners fault. It seems though at the end of the day the dangerous breeds need to be banned completely. Humans are scum and they can’t be trusted with such a dangerous breed of dog, they are as dangerous as firearms in the wrong hands and now a small innocent child will have to pay the price for incompetent ownership, a lax justice system and a lack of accountability by the owner, the gardas and the government.
