Cypriots when their destination is further than 150m away

  1. Got a friend in Larnaca and I asked him if he’s been recently or going to Limassol anytime soon. For me it’s normal to go to Limassol or Nicosia regularly from Larnaca and he replied bearing in mind it was early summer maybe May or June “No reee, but I might go next summer!” LOL.

  2. To be fair, when its really hot especially during the summer if you don’t want to get sunburn, taking the car kinda makes sense in a way if its during the day. Even tho Cyprus is basically one elongated summer. In the UK i didn’t mind walking so much due to the weather.

  4. When I studied in London, I would regularly walk 10-12km every day to and from uni + groceries/pubs etc.

I am not sure why I can’t do it in Cyprus (not summer obviously) but I am also one of the people that see 800m-1 km and say “I need a car”.

On the plus side, I am regularly using my bike for short distances not on the main road or medium distances if it’s during the night (after 22:00). But it’s super weird to me, that I walked 6 km every day to go to uni in London yet I take my car to get to my work which is 6,5km from my place.

  5. Take the car, then park half on the sidewalk, half in the road, completely blocking traffic, in order to save a 2 minute walk for his fredo espresso.

  6. Is this also a thing in autumn/winter?

As a Dutch tourist, we walked a lot in Ayia Napa and the bus transport is cheap and fine.
