Germany says Stalin’s Holodomor famine was a genocide

  1. Hope this doesn’t get removed. It was posted twice yesterday and both got removed as duplicates (presumably of each other).

Search doesn’t show this article posted.

  2. Great, falsification of history over current political seething. And lying about Stalin won’t stop Russia either.

Before you lynch me as a Russian troll, some crash course on why it’s not a genocide: a famine created by fuck ups and climate rather than malice, and affecting lot more than just Ukraine. People were starving in Russian-majority parts of Ukraine, in South Russia, and in western Kazakhstan. Genocide kinda by definition means that you try to eradicate a people on purpose. And it’s not like a few Russians died and mostly Ukrainians… Very comparable numbers. Wiki provides several different estimates, but well:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_famine_of_1930%E2%80%931933#Estimation_of_the_loss_of_life

Not one of those estimates looks anything like a genocide.

Stalin has enough reasons to rot in hell over things he really did, no need to lie about history. And if Stalin ruled today, Putin would be pretty high up on his kill list, turns out Soviets and the modern Russian billionaire cleptocracy spouting about traditional values are actually enemies, they might have had a civil war about some guys resembling Putin in 1917 or something
