It’s such a shame that his name rhymes with it. The smear campaign is basically pre-written.
Apparently network rail were willing to offer a deal of 8% this year and 2% next so a 2% improvement overall and toned down changed to the contract.
Government said no. Shame cos that likely would have been accepted.
This one really annoys me because there’s a strike on the 3rd of January. Given the 2nd is a bank holiday, he’s basically saying fuck you to anyone going away over New Years. At least let us get a train home before you go on strike.
The union’s demands are incredibly reasonable – our elected politicians could stop this strike if they wanted to.
They’re choosing not to. Because they don’t give a shit about us and inconveniencing us is a small price to pay if it means that they can fuck over the rail workers.
No you’re more than that pal. You’re the enemy of the real working class. His holding us to ransom to get pay rises has given me and thousands of others pay cuts due to lost earnings. He could’ve have taken a little but he wants it all. Something is better than nothing which we get every time they strike. People are losing their jobs. Fucking tosser.
Susanna Reid should turn in her journalism card (if she had one) for her absolutely appalling attempt at “interviewing” Lynch this morning, repeatedly asking if he was The Grinch and accusing him of deliberately timing the strike around Christmas. Couldn’t believe what I watching.

I’m looking at my bank balance. And the lost earnings. Blinkers? 3weeks worth of money lost. You tell my daughter why we’re choosing between heating and eating. Something that wouldn’t be a issue if it weren’t for the strikes. You tell the three lads families why they lost their jobs. Blinkers indeed.
Micky Lynch the Christmas Grinch.
I’ll take my cheque now please Daily Express.
Poor Mick Lynch has to contend with the entire media establishment arrayed against him and his members.

‘DURR HURR Lynch rhymes with Grinch!’
As a commuter I understand peoples frustration. But the whole point of a strike is to cause massive inconvenience. If yiu don’t what’s they point? And i agree. The demands are reasonable. Same with nurses.
Slagging me off for being pissed off over losing my livelihood. Jog on mug.
Oh I’m dancing alright same as everyone else. And I’ll dance even harder when they’re gone.
As much as I support the right to strike and want a decent settlement my bus journey to see family in the midlands is going to be horrible but I’ve got to go because it might be the MIL’s last Christmas, it’s very sad anyway how I’ll feel after hours on buses won’t help.
something about the way that man carries himself makes me think he’s a powerful, yet sensitive and attentive lover, can anyone with firsthand experience confirm this for me?
Greedy that is all, get back to work you will not win!
The Unions would probably have a better shot if they broke it down more. The lower grades in the industry are grossly underpaid, doing safety critical and skilled work for £20k or £25k quite often. They need a considerable pay increase.
Why exactly do arguably overpaid train drivers need an even larger nominal increase than them though? The reason is probably the power they hold within the Union, and their ability to prevent a strike if they aren’t making out of it too, but it’s also why the strike is hitting a wall.
They’re not really “christmas” strikes are they. They wont impact on christmas really in any way.
Automate the lot of them. They are just spoiling peoples hard won breaks and holidays for their own selfish reason.
They could easily have done this in February.
They have lost all support and goodwill I had for them.
The best way to control the workforce is to turn public opinion against worker protests.
The problem those attempting to impose control have now is that their actions over the last 12yrs affect us all as almost every section of the public sector considers industrial action.
Actually shocked people are getting angry at the unions rather than the government on this.
The irony is that the government is the actual grinch. All you need to do is look at yourself in the mirror & around you to see how decrepit and beaten you are.
Attacking the unions is effectively attacking yourself, why attack a fellow worker doing something you don’t have the balls to do?
Did they ruin your day? Well, yes they did. But that’s nothing because the government has ruined your life for a few more years. God help your children if you have any or plan too.
But just stop, please. The only way things will get better is if we stand together against the crimes our government are committing & have committed.
We need them out for they are the roots of all the poison.
No matter how many ideas & solutions you may have, it won’t matter because our current government will say no.
You got a new way to improve the economy? The government will say no.
To solve all our issues we need to get rid of our government. And to do that there needs to be enough of us at the end still standing to overwhelm them in numbers.
Why else do you think they are trying to divide us in the media such as this article? They’re done for and that’s why they are trying to get us to fight one another.
So please, just stop. If you’ve got an axe to grind please do use it on our government.
This would be solved by now if they actually cared about their country.
We’ve got till 2024 to survive, so hang in there.
It would be real nice if the readers of the Sun etc could just buy toilet paper like normal people.
They are being arseholes! They’ve banned rail workers from doing any over time over Christmas as a punishment for going on strike. Dig your heels in we are in this for the long haul. Fully support the workers! 🪧
A serious question- if the union gets their pay rise- let’s say 10%, where does that money come from?
Presumably by raising ticket prices for us lot that have to use the trains? Who are also dealing with the same cost of living crisis.
The whole system needs a streamline, and I’m sure redundancy must have to be a part of that, no?
