Children’s hospital costs: Coalition braced for sharp rise in final bill

1. Ah sure it’s grand. The Coalition is well used to “sharp rises” in the bill at this stage.

3. This is what happens when you hand out a contract without a finalised design and then change the goal posts once the project has started.

   But it gives a breakdown of 320 million if extras.

   Finalising of the design accounts for 274 million of it.

4. For handy reference, it costs 4 billion per moon mission.

7. I think the entire country is braced for it and its still gonna be shockingly outrageous.

8. Any money the Fine Gael party holds should be confiscated by CAB to pay for this.

9. I know the price is eye watering, but I’m not quite sure people understand quite how big this hospital is.

   I think if anyone at the department of finance had done a realistic cost per metre price comparison with other hospital builds in high cost countries, the original figures would have been seen as too good to be true.

10. They will probably invent a new number for the final cost and in 5 years time nothing will work and it will prob be too small.
