‘Families who lost loved ones during the pandemic have said they are “sickened” by a No 10 Christmas party held during last year’s Covid restrictions.’
Is anyone really shocked that it was so clearly one for us and no rules for them.
What I’m not getting about this story is how we are supposed to believe No.10 held a big Christmas Party without various media outlets with dedicated departments that do nothing apart from focus on the UK government failed to notice?
Did Johnson sneak people into his hoose dressed in policemen costumes or something?
Personally, so long as the younger family have a good time, I can enjoy seeing them happy. Christmas is for them at this point in my eyes.
We didn’t have much of one last year due to delivery snafu’s and local shops being emptied but we didn’t starve either.. this year is shaping up for more of the same.. even for those who budget/live within means costs are absolutely absurd and only getting worse
You can reschedule things like weddings, or parties.. but with funerals you only get one go, and thats going to remain a sore spot for many of us who had to deal with them about this time.
Its a stressful time planning (god forbid paying for) them in normal times.. then you throw in the restrictions which seeped into literally every single aspect of them. From viewings, to not being able to even have your own carry the loved ones coffin, no reception/wake after service (along with attendee limits)
Not to mention just how “rushed” each one felt.. clearly because sadly many people passed away around then (not just covid I should add), it felt like a conveyor belt for the venue to move current service on for the next here.
Of course the politicians fucked about as they like with impunity as per norm
Journalists sat on this story for an entire year. That’s almost as fucked up as the Government having Xmas parties.
If the party hadn’t happened the people would all still be dead (sorry to be blunt about it).
Yes the gov are a bunch of hypocrites, but I don’t see the point of this debate, there is no real link, no cause and effect… Just more people looking for an excuse to moan about something.
They were just doing what everyone else should have been doing .. ignoring the rules and having a good time. Uh, wait , they made the rules. Lesson learned.. never trust government!
Bite my tongue daily. Trying my best to keep the peace with my Tory relatives.
The government were hardly caring last year. This probably isn’t even the worst thing they did, it’s another footnote for the history books on the government’s handling of the pandemic.
