  1. It’s been shipped from the EU to Canda which has some weird dairy taxes as they’re scared people will become addicted to cheese.

How much is Canadian butter in Toronto from a small shop?

  2. price of product + price of transport in friged condition (quickly enought for not it to get bad) + price for shop, nothing suprising

  3. All of the imported items at the Polish stores in Vancouver seem to be pretty damn expensive too. Never had the need to grab butter but things like mayo and mustard are always way more than the Canadian brands.

  4. Ha. It’s imported, so you’re paying “fine food” store prices. Canadian butter costs less than half. Like around $1.50 per 100g.

  5. Butter is polish luxury good. I butter my bread with gold cuz that’s cheaper.

  6. Łaciate milk is fantastic and so is the butter. Live a little

  7. Just wait few months and the same prices we will have locally in PL

  8. My local Polish store (which recently renamed itself Zabka, funny enough), has homemade pierogi for sale. No price listed in the freezer. I decide to give them a try and see the price at checkout. For about maybe 4 dozen pierogi, it was $12. They also had sour creme. It was $7 for a small container, which is normally no more than $3 at my local grocer. And that wasn’t even imported sour creme, it was made in Quebec. This is also in Toronto.

  9. Costs of shipping and import duties aside, rent in Toronto is no joke either

  10. I’m sorry, but why would anyone want to buy polish butter in Canada? I could understand french maybe. But polish? That’s bizzarre

  11. It might simply be a result of a small scale importer recouping his shipping costs.

I live in Poland and see a similar markup oj Indian products imported in. The most outrageous one I remember was 45PLN per kilo of Mangoes. The shop had imported them in tiny crates of 8 pieces, so naturally they had to find a way to recoup costs.

  12. Omfg, how expensive is japanese butter in japanese store in Warsaw, Poland ?

  13. Welcome to Polish Inflation. It’s more then a jolly ride.

  14. Łaciate is literally the most expensive brand for milk, butter, ect. What did you expect

  15. I mean if you think about it you’re getting a butter from a nation that doesn’t have major ties. Friendly terms sure but not like a main trading partner. It’s butter. It’s a freaking luxury.
Hell if I was a king 100 years ago I probably couldn’t have that luxury.

  16. Insane Canadian import taxes on dairy. Used to get good butter and cheese in the states.

  17. If you’re gonna spend more on butter buy Irish creamery butter like Kerrygold

  18. Damn, I didnt know they already made milk flavored butter.

  19. So come to Poland and pick some up, cheaper clearly

  20. shipping butter from EU to canada costs money so it is expected to be expensive

  21. Łaciate brand is manufactured in the city I’m originally from. The product is quality

  22. Import taxes plus shipping a dairy product accros the world.

The same wine I buy in the supermarket in Italy for €5, costs me some $35 in the US.

  23. Butter is extremely expensive in Canada, I complain about this shit to all of my friends. I mean it’s not only butter that’s expensive, but butter is an essential product for many people so you really notice the effect of inflation.

  24. That’s real butter with 82% fat in. Just saying.
In Poland it costs 1.5$ for 200g
