It’s good advice. We used to cover the clock on the tills when I worked on retail. As is wearing good socks and well fitted shoes.
>a workplace that attempts to bed the human condition.
what does that mean?
Aside from that it does sound like a shitty job, I’ve done them, and oddly when I did production line work there were clocks everywhere, looking back it was kind of insensitive.
So I guess when someone tells you “Don’t do something” it can mean either:
1) I’m specifically instructing you not to
or
2) I’d advise you not to
For a newspaper headline -in the interests of faux outrage – it’s always (1)
>They spoke about the pain that came with being on their feet all day and ill-fitting safety boots which some claimed made their feet bleed.
I swear people forget that some boots need breaking in and yes, if you’re not used to being on your feet all day, you’re going to get blisters.
An article in which Tom Ball discovers what industrialised manual work is like…
Honestly it doesn’t sound like Boohoo is doing anything particularly wrong or cruel here – it’s just that the job is very hard and absolutely soul crushing by its nature.
