The UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women & Girls has made a very important intervention in the debate over the proposed reforms to the Gender Recognition Act in Scotland.

“The Scottish government … does not provide for any safeguarding measures to ensure that the procedure is not, as far as can be reasonably assured, abused by sexual predators and other perpetrators of violence. These include access to both single-sex spaces and gender-based spaces.”
She’s spreading the myth that allowing trans rights will mean sexual predators will abuse the system to gain access to women’s spaces in order to commit sexual violence against women. A myth that has no grounding in reality or reason.
There may be concerns over some women feeling uncomfortable with trans women using services that they haven’t been able to before, but to be I don’t believe that civil rights should be avoided just to satiate some bigoted feelings even if those bigoted feelings come from a place of trauma.
And still the attempt to lie about the bill exists.
It does not grant any additional access than what already exists at any point in time for literally anyone full stop. Trans people can already have access to any space they wish under thr law without a GRC. The entire UK had full self ID up till the 70s; and yes both trans women and trans men existed before then even in the modern sense this is well documented.
All it does is remove a pointless waste of taxpayer money on an highly paid panel of “experts”; of whom have lost in the uk high court before for being solely subjective and not sticking to the law when issuing GRC’s.
Removing this panel solely let’s trans people can have their birth certificate correctly and in turn get married and die without being misgendered at every turn. They cant even make the claim of “oh but pension and tax difference” anymore which is why theyve ran to just making up blatant lies.
Edit: to those that have tried to reply claiming that this is the UN. No it’s someone that works at the UN doing something on a personal capacity not official capacity.
Turns out officials can lie in a personal capacity or have people not learnt anything over the last 3 years.
