Armed Forces faces significant day-to-day budget cuts, according to Labour calculations

  1. Has every UK media outlet adopted the word ‘military’ to be interchangeable with ‘army’ ? It’s always been the forces to me, coming from a partly navy family. I saw the king and whoever on the news yesterday, in his carriage, “escorted by the military”, according to the BBC. The reporter went on to tell us the regiment, Scots Guards maybe. The RAF has regiments, but no horses in the way the army does, the RN has neither. Is this just an Americanism we’re going to have to accept?
