Na Jeff Hoeyberghs nu Filip Dewinter in de gebouwen van de UGent: hoe is het mogelijk?

  1. TL;DR; Hatesmurf is allowed to present its book in a building of the university on invitation of the junior fascist lovers club.

    Is this free speech? Yes

Is this spreading racism? Also yes.

Is the university obliged to grant access to its building for this event? I think not.

Basically, fascists want everyone who isn’t like them dead. But they can’t say that out loud, the people would reject it.

So, they dress it up. If you’ve heard the phrase “legitimate concern” or “serious issue” when talking about… a group you don’t belong to… you’re probably listening to a fascist, whose trying to fly under the radar.

So instead of saying “let’s kill all these people”, they’re saying “let’s get rid of them” and then when you point out that could be interpreted as “killing”, they say “oh no, just deportation”.

And then you point out, that would involve taking away peoples ability to have a roof over their head. Have a family, a community, and all that.

And they say “well that’s a separate concern” or “it’s not our intent to have them end up dead, our concern is only the housing situation”.

But the thing is: intent doesn’t matter. Effects of actions matter.

Like driving a car and texting, not looking at the road… you hit someone, they’re dead. Cops show up, you tell em “well officer, I didn’t intend to kill this person, I wasn’t even looking at the road, I was texting!”.

You think that cop is going to say “well alright then, you had no bad intent, go on with your day then, nothing to see here”?

Intent doesn’t matter. The effects of your actions are what matters.

But it’s also not the end of the world, if you did something bad. The real question is: are you willing to recognize it, and to learn from it? And are you willing to make amends with those affected? Genuinely?

  3. Blijkbaar vindt de voorzitster van de diversiteitscommissie politieke diversiteit niet zo belangrijk. ‘Sapere aude’, maar alleen als het binnen ons politieke kraam past.
