OMG a bridge across the river in the old town! No other European city has that. /s
Let me guess, you’re from the US? 😀
> Spends time in Austria
> Realises Austrians don’t like germans
> Goes to Germany next
> Suddenly has great idea to farm some karma
Is that Salzburg?
I don’t mean to create arguments here. Just sharing beautiful picture.
XD
I once took a train from Denmark to Hamburg and next to us a native german talked to some none european travler and asked about his travel plans. The Answer: After Hamburg he will visite Salzburg, Innsbruck and Vienna. He literally told the german guy that he will skip all of germany and go straight to Austria instead.
So your experience seems to be common knowlegde/practise.
I don’t live there anymore but I believe that it may be mostly the particular feel of Salzburg at work here. The town is just very picturesque, quite walkable and compact and thus probably a very good experience when it comes to Tourist-y stuff. But there are certainly a few towns like that in Germany, such as Bayreuth, Freiburg, Heidelberg and Lübeck.
Munich should probably better be compared to Vienna. While I enjoy living in Vienna and personally prefer it to Munich because of diverse reasons, I also don’t believe that these two cities would feel very different if you only stay for a few days.
But the primitive patriotic part of my brain still says thanks – glad you enjoy your stay. 😉
