not watched this one yet, but the Norwegian version (2016) was good imo. had funny moments.
Føler mangel på Kristoffer Joner i denne filmen.
I just finished watching it. The effects were cool, but the design of the troll was a bit basic in my opinion. I liked the characters, with the exception of Nora, during the first half of the movie. The trio of mains had good and complimenting personalities so I liked their chemistry.
It was very tropey and the dialogue was VERY stiff, so the story could have used some more attention in pre-production.
(spoiler ahead)
>!I think the best scene in the entire movie was when the troll was in Oslo and held the skull of his dead baby. It was by far the most touching and emotional scene.!<
Overall I give it a 5/10. It was completely average.
It was fun. It’s a Norwegian Kaiju movie.
Haven’t seen it, doubt it’s better than Trolljegeren.
I hated the first 20 minutes because I thought they tried to make a good Troll disaster movie. But the acting, dialog, costume design etc is horrible.
Then I realized they tried to make a B movie with Trolls – actual trolls from Norwegian folklore – and I liked it. ‘Suspence of disblief’ is impossible, but if you see past all the faults and enjoy it as a B movie, a meta ‘blockbuster’ movie in classic Hollywood style about trolls, it is entertaining.
And it has lots of references to Norwegian fairytales and history, so many it seems like it is made for a Norwegian audience and not an international one. And it has some funny lines, at least if you understand Norwegian and get the delivery of them.
The dialect of the solider ruined the entire film
I started it last night, got distracted, didn’t get to watch it. Maybe tonight. I remember Troll hunter, that was to bad.
I liked it because the way I allways viewed trolls as that they where wierd and stupid (been watching alot of ivo Caprino when I was younger and the trolls there could talk and was basicaly big humans and I just thought that was wierd and stupid) so when I was gonna watch trolljegeren in 2010 i thought it was gonna be the same. It was everything but!!! I loved it!! But now in troll. They got the fucking military to take it down with Guns and missiles. So it felt kinda surrealistic to me to see a troll get pounded by raw firepower
Meh..
Jeg synes filmen var okay
Jeg skal bli herved kjent som norge’s berømte buske-bokser
Entertaining, but crappy. would categorize with “The Core”
I like that they had a Pepsi max reference.
I like it … it’s relaxing and in same time some action going on…it keeps you awake try the movie as well for Norwegian cinema i think it’s really good project.
Meh. Was hoping it would be better.
Compared to Trolljegeren from quite a few years ago, this is a trainwreck. On it’s own it’s… ok. As many have said the standouts are shit casting and acting.
I kind of liked it, but I was a bit disappointed as well, as it was a missed opportunity to do something epic.
This could have been a great opportunity to delve into the sinister mythology surronding the Norwegian trolls, draugr, vettir, huldra and other folkloric creatures. Maybe even combine it with the Sami legends about Stallo (the Sami equivalent to trolls or malevolent spirits) and make it a real horror flick.
I’m thinking a bit like Game of Thrones did with the White Walkers. Hint at something foreign and obscure, awoken from a distant past. Beings with no apparent feelings or understandable motives, who come to wreak havoc upon humans. Nothing is able to stop them from killing and eating humans in the dark.
No dark places are safe. You’re only safe in broad daylight or when protected by a UV light. Imagine a war between the beings of the underground and the humans set in the Norwegian winter time when the days are short and the nights are long and dark.
Trolls may actually have the potential to become the “new” vampire or zombie if they are portrayed right and made scary and occult enough to frighten other than first graders.
Good entertainment
Troll hunter is alot better than this movie in my opinion!
Absolutely shit
Such a great movie. I loved the the Muslim part. Such understated humor.
Edit, oops I thought was regarding the “found footage” style Norwegian made movie. Which I loved. Haven’t seen this Netflix one.
Eh. Not good not bad
The storyline about Christianity, tho. It’s something that would never be mentioned in an American Hollywood movie. It’s refreshing.
Norway’s Jurassic Park/World
>!ripples in coffee!<
>!Tobias says “You did it because you could. You never stop to think whether you should.” which is along the lines of what Dr. Ian Malcolm says to Hammond.!<
Whenever Tobias gets upset, I can’t help but think he didn’t like the porridge he was given.
to americanetet!” captain KRIS? FR damn it was bad
I really liked it for what it was. A Norwegian spin on doomsday disaster / King Kong / Godzilla, not to be taken too seriously.
Visual effects were a solid 10/10 though!
After watching the most horrible acting I’ve ever seen in a movie in the trailers, I have decided not to watch it. We are approaching Plan 9 territory and that is a one-film-alone-rules territory.
I know that guy!
Poor writing, directing and acting, but a bit entertaining nonetheless.
Jeg skal se den i morgen
Can’t wait to watch it 🫡
I thought it was ok, I liked the animation of the troll, especially how sprigs of trees were hair, nice touch
