Skegness: The seaside town at the centre of asylum debate

  1. Interesting that the Home Office sent them to arguably one of the most racist and xenophobic areas of the UK…

  2. They overwhelmingly voted Leave

They can deal with the consequences of their vote

    Haha Get Fucked

  3. This is a terrible idea. We can mock Skegness but this town has had decades of under investment no jobs are there out of season. Low paid jobs in season. The resentment will be huge from the locals.

  4. 75.6% backed Leave, the highest percentage in the country.

You get what you fucking deserve*

**from a famous movie not my words*

  5. This is an area that overwhelmingly votes tory and yet doesnt seem to realise the situation
has been greatly exacerbated by the tories in the first place (and the tories know the locals will vote for them either way)

  6. Im originally from Skegness and the local Facebook groups have been horrific.

One particular gem was that , ‘racism is a made up word to keep us quiet’.

There is a petition going around which says, ‘Save our town from illegal immigrants!’ Which shows the lack of understanding of the asylum system.

I have had to bite my tongue.

I’m not exactly proud of my home town at the moment, especially after Brexit. Turkeys voting for Xmas that was.
