Mountmellick, Birr or Kilbeggan? My mind is racing.
In mountmellick??? I doubt it 🤣🤣🤣🤣 you were probably told that as a kid! However, back in the 70’s, it was probably the best one in the midlands
Wikipedia says it’s the second largest now in Europe
That was all propaganda from Mountmellick, as they themselves realised there were very few redeeming qualities to the town back then, they started a rumour saying it was the biggest Christmas tree in Europe, and sure enough back then you had no Google, so you couldn’t look it up and secondly nobody knew what book they would even look up such a fact in, so ultimately, you couldn’t prove them wrong
Ah Mountmisery. At least they have replaced the druidic totem. Btw the bakery/cafe on that square is fantastic
Mount misery
It used to be the biggest metal structure of its kind that folds out into a tree in Europe. Definitely not the biggest Christmas tree or even any kind of real tree at that!
Getting flashbacks of my parents bringing me on drives to Mountmellick from Tullamore when I was younger just to stare at this tree. There must be some story there.
