Hello r/hungary! The song in question is [Ha megfogom az ördögöt](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARtaAPhD7jQ). I found it randomly on Spotify and immediately recognized the kaval, since I am Romanian lol.

The lyrics go like this:

>Ha megfogom az ördögöt,
a ládába zárom,
mennél jobban fickándozik,
annál jobban vágom!

>
>Ide lábom, ne tova,
ne a szomszéd faluba!
mer’ a szomszéd faluba
nincs ilyen jó muzsika.

>
>Ha kicsike vagyok es,
kicsi helyet nekem es!
Adjatok egy szalmaszálat,
hogy felgyújtsam a világot!

>
>Ülj le mellém a lócára,
adj egy csókot utoljára.
Aj-jaj-jaj-jaj hajnalba
meghalok bánatomba!

>
>Ez a kicsi mulatság
tartana míg a világ:
Három éjjel-három nap
kimulatom magamat.

>
>Ha megfogom az ördögöt,
a ládába zárom,
mennél jobban fickándozik,
annál jobban vágom!

The English translation that I can find online seems to just be Google Translate so I thought it would be a good idea to ask here, thanks!

  1. Here’s my take, not easy to translate as some of these phrases are kind of archaic and folk song-y, but hope you get a better grasp of the meaning:

    When I catch the devil,
I’ll lock him in a box,
    The more he wiggles
    The harder I’ll cut him

This way, my feet, not away
    Not to the next village
    ‘Cause in the next village
    There’s no such good music

    Even if I’m small
Give me a bit of space
    Give me a single straw,
To burn the whole world down

Sit next to me on the bench,
Kiss me for the last time
    My-oh-my at dawn
    I’ll die of sorrow

    This little fest
Should last as long as the world
    Three nights and three days
    I’ll be partying

    When I catch the devil,
I’ll lock him in a box,
    The more he wiggles
    The harder I’ll cut him
