Hello everyone!

Me and my sister-in-law are making a Spotify playlist and trying to put 1 song from each country in the world. I’m starting with european countries (aside from the ones I already knew), and would really appreciate your help!

**What are we looking for?**

Preferably a song not in English, and that really captures the feeling of your country’s music.

**What countries are already in the playlist?**

So far we have:

* Faroe Islands

* Germany

* Japan

* Mexico

* Norway

* Pakistan

* Portugal

* San marino

* And thanks to our first post on reddit, Finland!

Thank you and we hope you can contribute to this project 🙂

Here is the link to the playlist: [Spotify – All around the world](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7n4kZc0adGRwSm0Jf7UFlG?si=9oz_cIZHRFCt9n9scExOVA&utm_source=copy-link)

Edit: Added /u/frostyc0bra suggestion: Ted gärdestad – sol, vind och vatten. Thank you everyone!!!

  1. Cornelis Vreeswijk – Somliga går med trasiga skor

    Cornelis was born in the Netherlands but grew up in Sweden from the age of 12. The song came out in 1968. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t know these songs and it perfectly captures core elements of the classic Swedish self image of the welfare state: socially conscious and morally superior atheism.

    > Somliga går med trasiga skor
    > säg vad beror det på
    > Gud Fader som i himmelen bor
    > kanske vill ha det så

    > Some people walk in broken shoes
    > tell me, why is it so?
    > Our Lord Father who lives in heaven
    > maybe wants it to be

    He also had a bunch of other staple tunes like “I natt jag drömde” and “Brev från kolonin”. It think it’s fitting too that he’s an immigrant.

  2. Inman jag gick in i tråden tänkte jag direkt: något med Ted Gärdestad känns som det rätta valet.

    Glädjer mig att det var det mest uppduttade.
