Hotel food given to migrants in Essex unhealthy – charity

  1. I expect nothing but sympathy, rationality, and empathy from the comments on this. /s

But, seriously, if asylum seekers are turning to food banks because the food being provided for them is inadequate, that’s another pretty fucking poor indicator of how badly the Conservative government have broken the system.

  2. Tough gig, accommodation and three meals a day.

I mean yeah, make sure you don’t serve frozen food (as suggested), but there has to be a line in the sand somewhere.

  3. How about illegal immigrants go to another country if they don’t like the free food we’re paying for them.

  4. Have you ever seen hospital food?

Public services in this country are not renowned for serving healthy, nutritious food.

    Too expensive.

  5. Give them real food and give struggling working people the unhealthy food that’s the British way right ?

  6. So we take them in, house them a hotel, give them free health care, free food and they’re still whinging.

  7. Some of these comments are just vile xenophobic ingorance. Do better.

Clearly youve never eaten hotel food for more than a day or two. Try it for a week then talk.

Remember all those covid quarantine stories of people loving living in hotels? No, neither do I.

  8. Do we have examples of the food given? I expect many people on minimum wage in this country are eating unhealthy foods too or those with even less choice with no option but to rely on food bank donations.

This is more than some of our homeless are getting apart from soup kitchens which is provided by churches and charities. Young adolescents too that leave abusive homes.

  9. Most of the commenters here seem to believe that if others in this country aren’t fed properly migrants shouldn’t be either. This is a cruel argument. Nobody should have to suffer the consequences of poor nutrition, it is only going to cost the taxpayer with the increased burden on the NHS.

  10. I wonder how healthy the food that working people are struggling to afford at the moment is?

I suspect that the food under the tarps on the beaches of Northern France is worse

  11. The partially frozen burger is just a disgrace and the small portions reeks of cost cutting but i suspect the hotel dares not do a buffet service to avoid people taking the piss. People at buffets are greedy fucks. As a waiter, I see it every day where people take two-three portions for themselves and waste most of it. The hotel in this article should do bigger portions and have more variety as a bare standard.
