> This year, for the first time in modern history, Britain will drop out of Germany’s ten largest trading partners. The Czech Republic has recently overtaken Britain in the ranking of the most important trading partners. This was reported by the DPA agency, citing an analysis by the German development agency Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI).
>In 2016, the majority of Britons voted for Britain to leave the European Union. Since then, the importance of the country for German trade has been declining. Uncertainty remains high.
>Trade in goods between Germany and Great Britain did grow between January and October, but at a slower rate than overall German trade. In addition, the Czech Republic has a significant lead over Britain in trade, so it will be almost impossible to catch up in November and December, GTAI said.
>”The slow development of German-UK foreign trade is not a new trend,” the GTAI report pointed out. Since 2017, the first full year since the Brexit referendum, Britain’s importance has steadily declined. At the time, it was Germany’s fifth most important trading partner.
beer unity
That’s pretty impressive, going by the amount of German cars on the road (seems to be declining offhand observation) and the fact Germany owns half the UK car brands. Kia doing really well round here, Tesla too.
Germany 🤝 Czechia
Reasonable Europeans.
(Yes there are idiots everywhere but still two pretty cool countries)
