I just tried hákarl for the first time a few weeks ago. Surprisingly, as a non-Icelander I did not think it was that bad. I thought the flavor was really new and interesting and more than tolerable in small amounts.
I didn’t like it enough to finish the entire package that I had bought, so I thought I would try something fun with it rather than throw it out, et voila! Hákarl sushi.
While I do not mind hákarl on its own, it just doesn’t really work with other flavors. That’s a probably a no-brainer to many of you, but I’m still glad I experimented and had fun making it 🙂 Now I can say I am probably the first one to make this (and hopefully the last…)
You dip it into Brennivín not soy sauce.
Kill it with fire.
I wouldn’t hehe, I assume it would taste better with alcohol but I don’t drink alcohol. So to me it is just that strong flavor that I don’t really see how would go together with the rice hehe.
Nope.
Looks nasty, and I know for a fact hákarl tastes nasty.
It can’t be much worse than eating a whole packet of wasabi. I’d try it once.
If you exchanged the rice for rye bread and the soy sauce for butter, then yum!
Probably not, i despise hákarl more than i love sushi.
But an interesting question to combine my least favorite and favorite foods
If you have leftovers and don’t want them to go bad, you can freeze it.
Why would you ruin perfectly good Shark with seaweed and rice?
Interesting. I love shark, I love sushi. Where did you find this lovely work of art
