So you’re telling me I pay 900 a month to be greeted with this as I walk through the gate? Been there for 3 weeks. Disgusting.

  1. Have you notified anyone of the blockage?

You should probably tell your housemates/neighbours to stop putting oil down the sinks.

  2. People are pretty passive these days. Just grab a bucket of water and clear it. You can’t trust the admin to do it. It’s a bit of a reality.

  3. When you get in spray your shoes with antibacterial(€1.50 Aldi lidl) and when you’re out avoid touching your shoes.

  4. Landlord agrees with the new draft listing at 1200 a month for the privelege to live in the fast becoming artistic and cultural quarter of (insert town/city) where many gureilla semi permantent tactile creators display ther pieces of social commentary in a random bankskyesque style.

  5. Is there a chipper or fast food joint nearby? Looks like the result of a failing grease trap which you should then call the Environmental Health Officer. That’ll be sorted out soon enough if so

  6. if that is on the outside of the gate, there might be a chance that Irish water can take a look to see if there is a blockage on the public side, if there is it’ll be cleared within 24hours usually. if not you can get a report back from Irish water saying there is a blockage there. to make sure they come out state that its coming up on the side passage but you think there is an issue on the main line. and say that there doesnt seem to be an issue in the rear of the property

  7. FYI please don’t flush flushable wet wipes. They do not flush. Or Johnny’s……. or nappies and tampons. There was a high vis jacket once.

    Your friendly neighbourhood plumber.

  8. Contact the council and tell them it’s a health hazard to the students and its flowing in to the street..if they hear health hazard they’ll come straight out..send an email as well to have proof of contact.

  9. We had this happen in previous accommodation.

We were blamed by the landlord for flushing stuff we shouldn’t have been – we weren’t doing so but he wouldn’t believe us. When he finally hired an actual professional apparently it had been caused by rats getting into the drain!!

Anyway we went to the RTB as we were illegally evicted and we mentioned the sewage incident (we were basically kicked out for making a fuss about that and other issues) and they took the sewage issue very seriously, in the breakdown of our compensation awarded it was about a quarter of it.

I would email your landlord and tell them you’re going to formalise a complaint about this if its not dealt with immediately. This is a serious health hazard.

  10. Is there a restaurant near or in the building. That looks more like an overflowing greese trap. If its a restaurant you could report them. That’s a health hazard.

  11. Ring you local hse office and report it as an environmental hazard. Your local EHO will come out and scare the shit out of management and it’ll be gone within the week

  12. I’d say the head gasket is blown judging by the appearance of the oil. Expensive repair.

Might just be easier to change car.

  13. Fairly sure that’s a public health issue. There are laws in this country against open sewers. Contact the epa and local council.

  14. Complain to the council since it’s a public health hazard and document it all and keep the ptrb updated on the situation. If it’s sewage the council can order it to be dealt with immediately
