Getting the wealthy to contribute more sounds great in theory. In practice the ultra wealthy would continue to access the best private care just as they always have. Meanwhile the higher income middle classes who find their earnings to be something silly like £10 over whatever the income threshold the government sets will suddenly find they can’t access healthcare because of the cost.
