So same as every year ? We get like 3 weekends a year to shut the majority of the network so we can get huge projects done.
Though there might not be any this year if the union have any sense.

The railways are an absolute joke. I bought tickets yesterday, but noticed that they are advertising train tickets to buy, but then putting a small disclaimer that ‘this journey will not run as shown’. If it’s not going to run as shown, it shouldn’t be advertised with incorrect details. Communication is rubbish, and I still remember a few months ago when I was left stranded at Euston with nowhere to stay with Avanti just leaving all communication to Network Rail. Changed my travel days to give me an extra buffer in case of disruption, but not feeling confident travelling over Christmas given previous experiences.
To be clear, I understand the need for engineering works over Christmas. It’s the poor communication, or total lack of it at times, that annoys me.
sod Christmas, what about today. You can’t even get from Manchester to Huddersfield after 830pm tonight. What a joke. Many evening services replaced with buses lately.
Yes yes I know why. I’m ranting at the Government. It’s not good enough.
