lol. Add “and I want to practice with a native speaker”.
As a tourist currently on a 2 week tour of Suisse, I appreciate this very much.
Much appreciated
Meh not many in the east e side speak French either but what can you do.
Cause I can travel 3000 miles and still be in the same country . That was the reason along with blendimg in many of our parents and grandparents used and did not teach their children their mother tongue Both of my parents came here in 1950 and between the two spoke 5 languages, but did not teach any of my siblings or me another language so we had to learn it in school . Roughly 55 million Americans speak 2 languages so that’s not really a bad number, alot more than many countries.
and there i am, speaking hochdeutsh…
Ha ha , I speak English because it’s only language I know, you speak English because it’s me who pays you ;)))
When I am in Amercia speaking a other language:
“*This is Murica, speak English !*”
When an American is in a other country:
“*Anybody here speaks English ?*”
😑
I lived in Switzerland for a while and picked up some ‘mundart’. My ears always perk up when I hear it spoken in other places. The Swiss never expect anyone else to understand it, like it is a secret language. Some act as if they can speak openly about anything. So beware, some of us aren’t as unaware as you might expect.
